Know Your Status, Protect Your Health: STI Awareness Starts with Testing

April 1, 2025

Louisiana continues to report some of the highest sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates in the nation, particularly in Regions 2 and 9, where Southeast Community Health Systems proudly serves. Region 2, which includes East Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes, ranks among the top for newly diagnosed HIV cases. Region 9, which includes Tangipahoa, Livingston, and St. Helena Parishes, continues to show elevated rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea. Young adults under age 25 make up a significant portion of reported STI cases across the state, and individuals with other STIs are more likely to contract HIV.

Southeast Community Health Systems is committed to supporting prevention and early detection. We offer free HIV testing to help individuals know their status and take control of their health. Please note that only HIV testing is provided at no cost. We also offer cervical cancer screenings, including Pap smears and HPV testing, which are essential for early detection and prevention. Since HPV is the primary cause of cervical cancer and is considered a sexually transmitted infection, these screenings are a critical part of maintaining overall reproductive health.

Now is the time to prioritize your wellness. Schedule your free HIV test or cervical cancer screening today with Southeast Community Health Systems. Taking a few minutes today can help protect your health for years to come. Call your local clinic or visit our website to make your appointment.
